Privacy Policy

In plain English: Nostos is a single-player game that does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no online features, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. Everything you do in the game stays on your device.

Who we are

Nostos is developed and published by Attract Mode Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in the United Kingdom. For any question about this policy or your privacy in relation to Nostos, please contact us at hello@attractmode.co.uk.

What personal data we collect

None. Nostos does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. In particular, the game does not:

  • create or require user accounts, sign-ins, or profiles;
  • connect to any servers operated by us;
  • use analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting;
  • display advertising or use advertising identifiers;
  • contain any third-party tracking SDKs;
  • request access to your contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera;
  • read or transmit any device identifiers; or
  • collect any usage, behavioural, or diagnostic data.

Data stored locally on your device

So the game can remember your progress and preferences, Nostos saves a small amount of data locally on your device only:

  • Save data — your current run state and your lifetime Datacard total.
  • Settings — your sound effects, music, and haptics on/off preferences and master volume.

This data is stored in the operating system’s normal app-sandboxed storage and never leaves your device. We have no ability to see, access, or recover it. Deleting the app deletes the data.

Third-party platforms

You will have obtained Nostos through a third-party platform such as Apple’s App Store or Valve’s Steam. Those platforms collect their own data (purchase history, account information, device characteristics, and so on) under their own privacy policies, which we do not control and to which we have no access. Their practices are described here:

If you watch the embedded trailer on the Nostos website, that video is delivered by YouTube and is subject to Google’s privacy policy. We use YouTube’s “no-cookie” embed, which means YouTube does not set cookies until you click play.

Children’s privacy

Nostos is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union and United Kingdom). Because the game does not collect any personal data from any user, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have somehow received personal data from a child, please contact us and we will investigate.

Your privacy rights (UK / EU / California)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) — including the right to access, correct, port, restrict, or delete personal data held about you, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

Because Nostos does not collect any personal data, we hold no personal data to access, correct, port, restrict, or delete. If you believe this is incorrect or you have any concern, please email us at hello@attractmode.co.uk and we will respond promptly.

UK and EU users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Security

Because the game does not transmit any data, there is no in-transit information for us to protect. Data saved locally by the game relies on the security of your device’s operating system and its app-sandbox model.

This website

This website (attractmode.co.uk) is hosted on a third-party WordPress hosting service. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) may be recorded by the host for security and performance purposes. We do not use those logs for marketing or profiling, and we do not run analytics or advertising scripts on the Nostos pages. If you choose to enable the optional background music on the main Nostos page, that audio file is delivered from this site and no data is sent to any third party.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if Nostos ever gains an online feature. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, flag the change prominently. Your continued use of Nostos after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
